Animal Legal Defense Fund: The original and still the best; our parent organization.

National Center for Animal Law: From Lewis & Clark Law School; coordinates annual animal law competitions and conference; provides general support to law students interested in animal law.
Animal Law Review: Also from Lewis & Clark; this is the nation's first law review devoted exclusively to animal issues.

Animal Rights on the Farm (ARF!): ARF is the Stanford undergraduate animal rights group; they work to bring animal rights issues and vegetarianism to the Stanford community by hosting speakers, film screenings, and free vegetarian dinners (formerly Stanford Vegan Action).

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals: Controversial, but important, PETA can take credit for modernizing and popularizing the modern animal rights movement.
Humane Society of the United States: The coutry's largest animal welfare organization, HSUS has a large base of support, and has incorporated broader animal rights concerns into its traditional advocacy.
The Fund for Animals: Founded by author Cleveland Amory, the Fund works to secure protection for all animals, with a focus on wildlife.
Vegan Outreach: One of the most effective grassroots animal rights groups focusing on educational advocacy by hitting the streets to pass out informative information on veganism.
Vegan Action: A vegan advocacy group that seeks to educate the public about the benefits of a vegan lifestyle through creative and effective outreach campaigns.
United Poultry Concerns: One of the most diverse and creative organizations in animal rights; dedicated to the compassionate and respectful treatment of domestic fowl; UPC runs a sanctuary for injured birds, writes and publishes academic essays and books on animal issues, conducts national outreach campaigns, and hosts conferences on major animal rights issues.
In Defense of Animals: One of the country's major animal rights organzations, IDA is run by a former veterinarian who seeks to defend all animals from human abuse.
Farm Sanctuary: One of the most heart-warming strategies in animal rights, Farm Sanctuary serves as a refuge for injured farm animals who have beeen lucky enough to have their lives spared.
National Anti-Vivisection Society: NAVS has worked to abolish the exploitation of animals in research, and promotes non-animal alternatives for biomedical research.
Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine: PCRM advocates the health benefits of a plant-based diet and works for the use of responsible alternatives to animals in biomedical research.
Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty: Controversial direct action group dedicated to shutting down Huntingdon Life Sciences, one of the most notorious exploiters of animals. While their tactics are controversial, they cannot be ignored. [Stanford SALDF has no official position on SHAC, but is opposed to the unnecessary abuse of animals at Huntingdon Life Sciences.]
Animal Liberation Front: For the past 30 years, the ALF has taken a "hands-on" approach to animal liberation. The ALF espouses a philosophy of nonviolence against all sentient beings, while using tactics like sabotage, property destruction, and animal rescues. [Stanford SALDF has no official position on the ALF, but is opposed to all needless violence against sentient beings, including animals exploited in factory farms, fur farms, and vivsection laboratories.]
